Design It For Us co-chair Arielle Geismar issued the following statement on Governor Phil Scott’s veto of the Vermont Kids Code:

“I’m disappointed that Governor Scott is choosing to protect Big Tech’s interests over children’s safety and privacy by vetoing the Vermont Kids Code, which offers long overdue protection for youth that ensures a safer online environment. For too long, social media has negatively impacted youth mental health, and it is high time for legislation that prioritizes our well-being over profits for Big Tech companies. Overturning this veto would be a much-needed step toward protecting youth from the sustained exploitation and undue harms that we experience from social media.”
