Design It For Us Co-chair Zamaan Qureshi issued the following statement on the unanimous and bipartisan passage of the Maryland Kids Code:

“We are grateful to the members of the Maryland General Assembly for standing up to Big Tech and prioritizing the safety of kids and teens. This takes us one step closer to putting an end to Big Tech’s unchecked power over our data and privacy. We are proud of the role young advocates played from the beginning in making Maryland the second state to pass Kids Code legislation and look forward to the momentum this will bring to other states. We encourage Governor Moore to put Maryland youth first, protect our lives over Big Tech’s profits, and sign this bill into law.”

Design It For Us first started as a campaign effort to pass the California Age-Appropriate Design Code in 2022 and has since become a youth-led coalition advocating for safer social media and online platforms for kids, teens, and young adults.
